Zbog svog nakiselog ukusa lako se može jesti u kombinaciji sa mesom, sirevima, jajima, ribom ili u salatama, ali je i vrlo dekorativno na tanjiru. Jedu se listovi i priprema se kao i spanac, a može se brati nakon nekoliko sedmica. Listovi su jestivi. Veoma dobrog dejstva za stomačnu i crijevnu probavu.
